Arrests after West Bridgford home raid and car theft

Detectives investigating a West Bridgford burglary in which a car was stolen have arrested two men.

Officers were called to Portland Road, West Bridgford, after a break-in at a home overnight on 13 to 14 May 2023.

The homeowner woke to discover her car had been stolen from the driveway.

The car keys, as well as a bag with clothing and other items inside, had been taken from inside the property.

An offender had gained access by opening a window and climbing inside at some point between 10 am on 13 May and 5 am the following morning.

Detectives carried out forensic investigations at the address, as well as house-to-house inquiries and analysis of CCTV footage.

The car stolen in the raid has been located and recovered by officers.

Two men, aged 35 and 38, were arrested on suspicion of burglary on Wednesday (31 May).

Detective Sergeant Ben Skellern, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We have a dedicated team of detectives working exclusively on the prevention of burglaries, investigating them and bringing offenders to justice.

“This allows us to attend every dwelling burglary and carry out a detailed investigation.

“Burglary is an unpleasant and invasive crime. No one deserves to have their privacy invaded and their home ransacked by criminals.

“My team have carried out a proactive intelligence-led investigation which has allowed us to locate and recover the stolen vehicle and detain these two suspects.

“Our investigation remains ongoing, however, and anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident number 210 of 14 May 2023, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
