Bark for Life returns to Rushcliffe Country Park for 2022

On Sunday 22nd May the ninth Bark For Life in Nottingham will take place at Rushcliffe Country Park to raise money for Cancer Research UK, following its cancellation in 2020 and 2021, due to COVID19.

Bark For Life is a 5km sponsored dog walk through the beautiful Rushcliffe Country Park.

There will be lots going on throughout the day including a dog agility course, a canine photographer, lots of stalls selling ‘doggy’ items plus there will also be a Fun Dog Show, with categories for pooches of all shapes and sizes and even a special round for the most charitable pooch.

Over the past 8 years hundreds of dogs, of different shapes and sizes, have come together to raise a staggering £50,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The cost for registering a dog is just £6 and once registered each dog owner can download a fundraising pack which includes a sponsorship form, a guide to setting up an online form, a map of the walk as well as guidelines for the day.

Advance registration is highly recommended as each dog will receive an exclusive Bark For Life bandana as well as a thank you certificate on receipt of their sponsorship money.

Becky Elphick, Relationship Manager for Cancer Research UK said: “Cancer Research UK’s ambition is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived.

But over the last 40 years, survival has doubled – today half will survive. Cancer Research UK’s aim is to accelerate progress and see three-quarters of people surviving the disease by 2034.

Sadly, COVID 19 has slowed us down and hit us hard, along with many charities. Over the next year we expect to see a reduction in our fundraising income, which will result in us having to make cuts to our research. However, we will adapt and will continue to fund the best Scientists across the UK.”
