The community hall, which will be named Jubilee Hall, recognises this year’s  Platinum Jubilee celebrations and is courtesy of part-funding from D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership.

It will host a large stage with provision for theatre performances, stage curtains and contemporary sound and lighting to suit a wide range of events and activities.

The current Bingham Leisure Centre at Toot Hill School and all its current facilities will remain open until the new Bingham Arena is open, at which point memberships and some bookings will transfer over to the new site.

A greener and carbon efficient leisure centre, efficient building materials, air source heat pumps, combined heat and power technology, water efficiency measures, LED lighting are all features of the energy efficient building design.

It will see a 78% carbon emission reduction compared to other leisure centres in the Borough.

The Leader of Rushcliffe Borough Council Cllr Simon Robinson said: “This will be a great facility for Bingham and so many people with a new leisure hub at the heart of one of our growing towns.

“Despite the challenges the construction industry is facing, like so many markets currently, Bingham Arena is on course for opening this year as planned and we can’t wait to open its doors this autumn.

“The environment is one of our key priorities and these wonderful new facilities will encompass so much of what we aim to achieve with even greener, more efficient venues that will benefit our local communities.

“It’s vital we take the opportunity to build new facilities with our fellow Carbon Clever project in mind and set an example for others to follow in investing in new infrastructure in the right way.

“The Council are working closely with the school on decommissioning the current pool to ensure that disruption to all pool users is minimised and we thank Toot Hill School and Nova Education Trust for their continued support.”

Lex Leisure will be communicating with existing users and clubs via newsletters and social media channels over the coming weeks to confirm arrangements.

Outdoor sports, including hockey, tennis and athletics and sports hall activities will continue to operate from the existing site at Toot Hill School and will be managed by the operator.

Offices at the new Bingham Enterprise Centre, adjacent to the new Bingham Arena Leisure Centre on Chapel Lane in the town, will also be open for business this autumn, courtesy of funding from the European Regional Development Fund.
