Detectives investigating an attempted knifepoint robbery have arrested two suspects.
Police were called to Vernon Park, Old Basford, following reports of a man being held up at knifepoint.
A group wearing balaclavas are understood to have approached the man and demanded he hand over his belongings.
When he refused, one of the attackers reportedly then threatened him with a knife before fleeing the scene empty-handed.
The victim was left uninjured following the incident at around 8.25pm on 16 August 2022.
Following an extensive investigation, detectives have arrested two boys, aged 16 and 14, on suspicion of attempted robbery.
Both suspects have been released on conditional bail as inquiries continue.
Detective Sergeant Frank Guddemi, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Thanks to some great work from our officers, we have now arrested two suspects in connection with this incident.
“For obvious reasons, we take all reports we receive concerning robbery extremely seriously, and it’s important people realise that this type of abhorrent behaviour will never be tolerated on our streets.
“Similarly, nobody should ever think it’s acceptable to carry a knife with them in public, never mind threaten anyone with it, as this puts them and others around them in danger of harm.
“Our officers work tirelessly to tackle the root cause of this type of offending and will always do whatever we can to ensure those responsible face up to the consequences of their actions.
“We are still in the process of investigating this attempted robbery and would urge anyone who has any information to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 783 of 16 August 2022 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
