Police are appealing for information after a unique football shirt was stolen from a Nottingham art gallery.
The jersey was created by Brazilian artist Allan Weber and was placed on display at Nottingham Contemporary as part of his first UK exhibition.
Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Weber made the jersey to celebrate a local youth football team that he founded, Cinco Bocas FC – whose players meet at his art gallery before and after matches.
The shirt was stolen on 3 March and officers are appealing for anyone with information about its whereabouts to come forward.
PCSO Megan Harlow, of the City Centre neighbourhood policing team, said:
“This is a special piece of artwork that was kindly offered to Nottingham Contemporary so that local residents could enjoy its unique appearance.
“It’s disappointing someone would take it upon themselves to steal it and I’d appeal for them to do the right thing and ensure it is returned.
“Likewise if you have any information about its location, please get in touch.”
Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference number 25*133311.
