Bridgford Park play area to close from Monday for new equipment installation

Vital refurbishments will mean partial and, at times, full closure of the play park adjacent to Bridgford Hall from Monday, 20 January, to protect the safety of users.

Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) is continuing to invest in its play parks, with Bridgford Park play area the latest to receive new, modern, and inclusive facilities for all children to enjoy.

Works are expected to be completed before February half term.

New inclusive equipment at the play area will include inclusive seesaws, wheelchair-accessible roundabouts, and other improvements.

This follows the Council’s investment in play areas, including the popular Rushcliffe Country Park, Boundary Road and Greythorn Park in West Bridgford, and Adbolton Lane Playground in Lady Bay.

Further development is also set to take place at Bridgfield Park and West Park in West Bridgford in due course.

The investment follows the results of a survey conducted by the Council, where residents and parkgoers shared their views on what they want to see in their local parks.

An RBC consultation on play parks, which took place earlier this year, will also assist in updating their Play Strategy in the coming months. This will help shape further investment in community facilities.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure & Wellbeing, ICT & Member Development, Cllr Jonathan Wheeler, said:

“We’re proud to invest in our parks, and it’s great news that work is starting on one of our most popular sites, Bridgford Park.

“It will welcome accessible equipment such as the wheelchair-friendly roundabouts and inclusive see-saws that are important to help ensure all children, regardless of their abilities, can enjoy our play parks.

“Our investment in community play facilities such as these demonstrates our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and visitors, and will ensure our play park continues to be fantastic for all families to enjoy.”

Works will be completed by playground equipment supplier Proludic Ltd, based in Bunny, who have designed the updated features.
