Bunny village chosen for home energy efficiency trial with free support packages

Homeowners in Rushcliffe are invited to a free information event this Saturday January 20 to hear from industry experts about how to improve the energy efficiency of their home and residents in Bunny can receive funded retrofit support packages.

The HEAT (Home Energy Advice Team) Hub is delivering the event at St Mary’s Church, Bunny NG11 6QT from 10.30am to 12.30pm and is supported by Bunny Parish Council and Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Residents can meet the HEAT Hub team and hear first-hand about how retrofit assessment packages offer tailored support, including an opportunity to book a free Home Energy Plan, meet the experts and ask questions about their own home improvement projects.

The free Home Energy Plans are adapted to offer different levels of support including a green home, clean heat and power, in hard to treat non-traditional built heritage properties within conservation areas.

Plans provide an assessment of the heat loss of the home through to the installation of insulation, renewable energy systems, such as Air Source Heat Pumps and Solar PV Panels, as well as design specifics for heritage homes and guidance on government funding.

Residents keen to decarbonise their home will also be entitled to a free Retrofit Assessment from Nottingham Energy Partnership, that will give them a blueprint in how they can decarbonise their home, worth around £2,000.

It’s part of a pilot project aimed at the ‘able to pay’ homeowner market who live in old or hard to treat properties within conservation areas.

The village has been chosen for the event as part of the HEAT Hub’s trial to help homeowners some of whom live in historical housing which can benefit from the support.

Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Planning and Housing Cllr Roger Upton said: “We’re pleased Bunny has been selected to be the Nottinghamshire pilot for the HEAT Hub’s project, following on from Derbyshire’s Tideswell, which is situated in the Peak District National Park.

“Around 44% of all the Borough’s carbon comes from housing and this pilot scheme is a great opportunity for Bunny Energy Solutions Working Group and the village, which has historical housing as well as being in a conservation area.

“The event will consist of a roadshow at the village church where there will be experts from Nottingham Energy Partnership, officers from RBC and heat pump demonstrator lorries from local manufacturers.

“If you’re interested in learning more about how to improve the energy efficiency of your home and reduce your carbon footprint, come along to this event this Saturday!”

The HEAT Hub comprises experts in the industry, including experienced architects, retrofit assessors and coordinators.

They work with homeowners to develop their energy efficiency journey, producing improvement plans that take into consideration how to preserve the heritage and quality of your home, but also to maximise investments made.
