A burglar has been jailed after leaving his blood at the scene of his crime.
Michael Harvey smashed his way through the window of a property at Torvill Drive, Wollaton, on the morning of Monday 20 October 2025.
Police attended the scene and found blood belonging to the intruder on shards of broken glass – deposited as he cut his hand.
He was then spotted on CCTV fleeing the scene through an alleyway.
The 41-year-old was duly arrested on 31 October.
Harvey, of Saltburn Road, Nottingham, was put before Nottingham Crown Court on 22 January 2026 where he pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to steal.
He was then jailed for 870 days – around two years and five months – when he appeared again at the same court on Tuesday (24 March).
Detective Sergeant Nigel Malik, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Domestic burglaries are horrible experiences for victims as offenders strike where people should feel safe – their homes.
“Although Harvey failed to steal any items, he still unlawfully entered the property and that understandably caused the occupant a great deal of distress.
“Ultimately, his actions that day have resulted in him now spending a considerable amount of time behind bars, where I hope he will take the time to reflect on his behaviour.”
