Two burglars have been jailed after detectives used CCTV footage to prove their guilt.
Dawn Charles, aged 41, and Tanya Rowley, aged 47, stole hundreds of pounds from a vulnerable pensioner after inviting themselves into his Sneinton home on 11 December last year.
The pair left a short time later with the man’s wallet before using his bank cards to withdraw £600 in cash from a nearby in-store cash machine.
Immediately afterwards they made two further contactless payments totalling more than £100.
Detectives used CCTV pictures from the shop and the man’s home to identify the pair, who were arrested on 22 December.
Despite making efforts to hide her face, Charles was clearly identifiable by a distinctive tattoo on her right ankle.
A distinctive gold coloured hairband seen in the footage was also found at her home address.
Rowley, meanwhile, was betrayed by her distinctive black boots and long padded jacket
Both later pleaded guilty to burglary and fraud by false representation. Rowley also admitted to possessing Class A drugs.
Appearing at Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday (3 July), Charles, of Sneinton Road, Sneinton, was jailed for two years and five months.
Rowley, of Tewkesbury Drive, Basford, was jailed for two years and two months.
Both were made the subject of a restraining order banning them from further contact with the victim.
