Burglars remove roof tiles to steal alcohol and e-cigarettes from shop

Officers investigating a break-in at a convenience store have arrested a suspect.

Offenders removed roof tiles from the store in Turner Lane, Boughton, near Ollerton, to gain access around 11.35pm on 30 December 2023.

E-cigarettes and wine were then taken from the shelves before the offenders fled via the same route through the roof.

Officers have been studying CCTV footage from nearby and carrying out other local inquiries.

They arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of burglary on Friday (12 January).

Sergeant Christian Hurley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We have been working hard to trace the offenders after this break-in as we are fully aware of the impact this sort of crime can have on local businesses.

“We will always offer a robust response when community stores are targeted like this and their shelves ransacked.

“This arrest is an important step in the investigation but we still want to hear from anyone who has any information, CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which could help with our inquiries.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 721 of 30 December 2023, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
