CCTV appeal after woman loses £150 in tampered cash machine scam

Police want to speak to this man following reports someone tampered with an ATM to steal cash.

Officers are in the process of investigating a cash machine scam that resulted in a user losing around £150.

That’s after the victim tried to withdraw cash from a machine located outside a bank in Valley Road, Old Basford, but no money was issued.

Unbeknownst to the woman, the money had come out but was hidden from view, after an unknown individual tampered with the machine.

This happened around 1.30pm on 7 December.

Police have been looking into the incident since then and are now in a position to release an image of someone they believe could assist them with their investigation.

PC Richard Rafferty, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The victim in this case was understandably left very upset about what happened, so we’re determined to track down whoever was responsible.

“To that end, we’d ask the person in this picture to contact us, or for anyone who knows them to do likewise, as we believe he could help us get to the bottom of what happened.

“Anyone who has any information is asked to share it with the police by calling 101, quoting incident 349 of 7 December 2024, while they can also report it anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
