Collision leaves four in hospital – one person arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving after a collision involving two cars.

 

Four people were taken to hospital following the collision in Bilborough Road, Strelley, at approximately 1.30pm yesterday (27 March).

The head-on crash happened between Bramhall Road and Cockington Road and involved a silver MG3 and a blue Nissan Qashqai.

All four casualties were taken to Queen’s Medical Centre with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening.

They include a 32-year-old man who has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and possession of a Class B drug, namely cannabis.

He has since been discharged from hospital and remains in custody for questioning.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who have not spoken to officers to come forward.

Sergeant Gina Northwood, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Driving under the influence of drugs is extremely dangerous.

“In this instance, a serious collision occurred and it has left a number of casualties in hospital with significant injuries.

“We are currently working to understand exactly what happened in the moments leading up to this collision and ask any witnesses who have not yet spoken to us to come forward.”
