Council takes action over vandalism at recreation ground

Gedling Borough Council’s Leader has condemned a recent spate of vandalism at Conway Road recreation ground and promised action as part of the Council’s drive to ensure public safety.

The Council received reports about damage to the defibrillator on site on 18th December followed by reports of needles being found near the children’s play area and damage to the tennis court gate (pictured).

Councillor John Clarke MBE, Leader of Gedling Borough Council said:

“The park is well used by local families and the behaviour of these vandals is unacceptable.  I am deeply disappointed that they have chosen to cause damage to a much-loved public space and to the tennis courts after so much work has gone into making improvements.

The Council will not tolerate vandalism of any kind.  We have reported the incident to police and will be collecting CCTV evidence to share with them to ensure that the culprits are brought to justice.”
