Around 20 volunteers carried out a litter pick in the area around Compton Acres for The Great British Spring Clean.
Each person managed to collect one full bag of rubbish last Saturday afternoon.
The team started at ROKO and spread out from there – covering Wilford Lane in both directions, Compton Acres, the tram line, Ruddington Lane, Gresham Pitches, and Wilford Field.
The weather almost held out too which made it even more enjoyable for all.
Local Councillors Gordon Wheeler (Compton Acres) and Andrew Rule (Wilford) joined, as did Ruth Edwards MP and her team.
Ruth Brown, organiser of the regular litter picks in the surrounding area should be congratulated, as should the regular litter picking champions.
Many areas were devoid of litter and the upward trend appears to be much more respect for our local area.
