Dashcam appeal after teenager dies in collision

Officers investigating a fatal collision are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage.

The collision occurred in Sutton Lane, Sutton Scarsdale, at around 11pm on Sunday 19 April when a Vauxhall Corsa left the road and was in collision with a tree.

Police said:

‘A 17-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

‘Her family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers. Our thoughts are with them at this time.

‘Two other passengers suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital where they remain.

‘A further two people in the car, including the driver, were also taken to hospital but their injuries are not thought to be serious.

‘The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.

‘We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision as well as anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of a red Vauxhall Corsa in the area.
