Man charged after four firearms and Class A drugs seized in Nottingham

A man has been charged in connection with the recovery of firearms and drugs.
Response officers were on patrol in Radford when they spotted a Sur-Ron bike that aroused their suspicions.

Following this sighting on Alfreton Road at around 1 am on 18 April, officers pursued the bike.

Police were then led to an address in Peveril Street, where four firearms, ammunition, and a large quantity of Class A drugs were recovered.

Kehmarly Powell, of Oldknow Street, Nottingham, has been charged with two counts of possession of a shortened shotgun and two counts of possession of a firearm with a barrel length of less than 30 cm.

The 32-year-old was also charged with four counts of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life or enable another to do so, and possession with intent to supply the Class A drugs heroin and cocaine.

He was remanded into custody and was due in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (20 April).

Detective Constable Michael Gardner, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This is a great example of officers working proactively and, as a result, they have recovered multiple firearms, drugs, cash and ammunition and have removed them from circulation.

“The force will use all investigative means at its disposal to crack down on weapon-enabled crime and reduce the availability of firearms.

“I want to reassure the public that the use of firearms in Nottinghamshire is extremely rare, and the fact that these have been recovered safely is extremely positive news.”
