A suspected drink-driver is due in court after a car repeatedly collided with parked vehicles.
Officers arrived at Park Road, Lenton, in the early hours of 5 May following reports of a man in a Volkswagen Golf driving dangerously down the road.
Two damaged vehicles that were parked down the adjoining road Allington Avenue were left in the car’s wake.
The driver of the car was spoken to and arrested at the scene, where a police officer was then assaulted.
Adrian Szmigielski, of Park Road, Lenton, has been charged with drink driving, driving whilst disqualified, assault of an emergency worker, and use of a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance.
The 40-year-old has since been released on unconditional bail and is due to appear in Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 22 May.
PC Louise Palfrey, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Driving whilst under the influence of alcohol can have detrimental consequences for the driver and those around them, and individuals who make the decision to drink and get behind the wheel can expect to be put before the courts.
“Likewise, those who assault emergency workers, who work tirelessly to serve and protect the public, can also expect a robust response from the force.”
