‘We would like to apologise to customers who have been affected by a fault with our baggage system, following a brief power cut earlier this morning.

‘In the event that customers become separated from their luggage, they should stay in contact with their airline who will make arrangements for them to be reunited with their luggage at their destination.

‘Our teams are working hard to support customers in the terminal and keep them informed. We are continuing to work with engineers so that baggage operations can resume as soon as possible.

‘Anyone planning to fly from East Midlands Airport today should arrive as normal, keep any critical medication with them in hand luggage and check with their airline for their flight status.

‘The technical issue is only affecting departures – baggage systems for arrivals are operating as normal.’
