EMAS pay tribute after death of Steve Wood from the Emergency Operations Centre

Mr Wood worked in the control room for almost 20 years.

A spokesperson said:

‘It is with deep sadness that we announce that Steve Wood, a Dispatcher in our Emergency Operations Centre,  passed away yesterday morning (Monday 24 October 2022) after a short illness.

‘Steve worked in our EMAS control room for more than 19 years.’

Chief Executive Richard Henderson said:

“Steve was both well-known and well-loved. He will be missed by many of us and our collective thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.”

“Steve’s family have consented to the release of this tragic news; however, they do not wish to take part in media interviews or to release any further information. They have asked that their right to privacy is respected at this very difficult time.

“In addition, we ask that our colleagues and volunteers are left to grieve in private.”
