Fire crews rescued the animal that was stranded with just its head above the water.
Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service said on Sunday 16 March:
‘Crews from Loughborough were mobilised to the River Soar in Leicestershire to rescue a Muntjac deer that had ended up stuck in the river with its head just above the surface of the water.
‘Working in conjunction with Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Central Station and the RSPCA (England & Wales), crews used specialist animal rescue equipment to carry out a rescue
Once retrieved the muntjac was handed over to the RSPCA to ensure its welfare.’
