A major incident declared by Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service following a sustained period of increased demand has been stood down.
The service said the declaration, made on Sunday (August 9), had now been rescinded after crews dealt with a large number of challenging incidents across the county.
Additional support was provided by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service.
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said the assistance allowed incidents to be brought under control more quickly.
The service also thanked its firefighters, who have been working “tirelessly” in hot conditions for several weeks amid an increased risk of outdoor fires.
Despite the major incident being stood down, residents and visitors are being urged to continue taking precautions during the warm, dry weather.
The service said: “Please continue to help us help you by taking your litter home with you, being careful when discarding cigarettes and packing a picnic, not a barbecue.”
