A suspect has been arrested after police seized a firearm while executing a warrant in Newark.
An operation was carried out by policing teams in Tolney Lane at 7 am today (15 February).
Searches were subsequently carried out of the area, which resulted in a suspected firearm being found and seized by police.
Following this discovery, a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate.

Officers from the Newark beat team will also be providing a visible presence in the area through regular reassurance patrols.
Detective Sergeant Andrea Brown, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Our officers managed to retrieve a suspected firearm and arrest a suspect in the process, following this warrant.
“We don’t believe there to be any risk to the wider public but our officers will be carrying out patrols of the area to provide further reassurance to residents.
“We are still in the early stages of this investigation, so would ask anyone who has any information that could assist us to report it.”
