Firefighters are continuing to tackle a large field fire in the Oak Tree area of Mansfield and expect to remain at the scene for some time.
The incident is producing a significant amount of smoke, with residents who can see or smell it being advised to close their windows and doors.
Members of the public have also been urged to avoid the area and not to enter the incident ground unless they are emergency responders.
People have been specifically warned not to fly drones above the fire because they could interfere with emergency service operations.
Fire crews, supported by control room operators, have worked to bring the incident under control, but operations are continuing.
The fire service has also issued safety advice as the prolonged dry spell increases the risk of further outdoor fires.
People visiting parks and countryside areas are being encouraged to take picnics rather than disposable barbecues, bring their rubbish home and take particular care with glass bottles and discarded cigarettes.
The public has also been reminded about the dangers of open water and warned not to jump into lakes, rivers or reservoirs to cool down.
Residents should continue to avoid the Oak Tree area while firefighters deal with the incident.
