Fotomargo to close West Bridgford store after 50 years

The popular store on Bridgford Road will close later this spring, owners announce.

Most residents are familiar with the eye-catching ‘You are passing Fotomargo, Why?’ sign outside the store in West Bridgford.

Owner of the family business Michael D’Ray spoke to West Bridgford Wire today 3 April and explained that the move is not purely a financial decision – and that the business hopes to continue some of its services through another route and premises.

Michael said: ‘We feel sorry for the customers most of all. Many of them have been coming to see us for years and even decades. That’s why we’re trying hard to keep some services and partner other services so that some continuation for customers remains available.’

‘Closing this shop is a decision we have to take as a way of doing forward in some form or another.’ ‘We’ll update on this progress as soon as we can of course.’

The business announced the news on social media yesterday:

‘Well, this is a notice we’ve been dreading to post.

‘Genuinely sad to say that Fotomargo (in its current form at least) will close its door for the final time at the end of May. A truly sad time for us all.

‘Some services will transfer to local partners and some services we will continue to offer under a new banner and location.

‘All will be finalised and announced as soon as we can.

‘We are informing customers as we continue to offer the services we do currently, but we feel it’s only fair to notify publicly to the very people who have kept us going as a business since 1972 and in West Bridgford since 1975.. a long time in anyone’s life.

‘It’s been a huge pleasure and privilege to have served the local community for so long.

‘Please keep a look out for updates, sales, and our new ventures, we are not completely finished as yet. And rest assured every customer will receive the very best service till the very last.

‘Thank you all, so so much… thank you.’
