Gridlock across Nottingham as traffic avoids Download Festival congestion

Many routes across the city are congested during this rush hour.

Traffic maps show congestion across major routes as motorists attempt to avoid hours of delays on the M1 and surrounding routes on the west side of the area where Download Festival visitors have been moving in since 6 am this morning. There are also other minor incidents making things worse.

A6514 Middleton Boulevard

Queueing traffic due to traffic avoiding congestion on the M1 on A6514 Middleton Boulevard Northbound at A609 Wollaton Road (Crown Island). Congestion to before the QMC Island). Travel time is 15 minutes.

A610 Nuthall Road

Queueing traffic on A610 Nuthall Road outbound at B6008 Bells Lane (Cinderhill Island). In the construction area. Lane closures are in operation. Detour in operation – for bus service Yellow 71.

M1 J25

Queueing traffic due to earlier stalled car on M1 Southbound between J25 A52 Brian Clough Way (Nottingham / Derby) and J24 A453 Ashby Road (Nottingham South / East Midlands Airport). Lane four (of four) was closed.

Severe delays and queueing traffic due to people arriving at Download Festival on A453 Walton Hill both ways around Donnington Park. Congestion to Surrounding routes including roads around East Midlands Airport, Loughborough, Kegworth, Derby and Nottingham.
