Guide lists West Bridgford and Bingham among eight best Nottinghamshire places to live

West Bridgford and Bingham have both been named in Muddy Stilettos’ Best Places to Live guide for 2027, with readers invited to vote for their Nottinghamshire favourite.

The two Rushcliffe towns are joined by Newark-on-Trent, Retford, Sherwood, Southwell, The Park in Nottingham and Wollaton. The county selection forms part of the publication’s national guide to 260 places to live.

In West Bridgford, the guide highlights the town’s appeal to families, students and young couples. Trent Bridge cricket ground and Nottingham Forest’s City Ground are both within walking distance of the shops, cafés and restaurants around Central Avenue.

In Bingham, Muddy Stilettos singles out the independent cafés and points to plans for new housing. Southwell earns its place for different reasons, with the guide drawing attention to Southwell Minster, the town’s history and the hills around it.

Two market towns further north also feature. In Newark-on-Trent, streets lined with independent shops lead from the Market Place towards the castle and River Trent. Retford, in Bassetlaw, is home to Bassetlaw Museum, which tells the story of the district.

Three Nottingham neighbourhoods complete the list. Sherwood lies north of the city centre, with shops and cafés along Mansfield Road. At The Park, the guide highlights how close the estate’s quiet residential streets are to the city centre’s shops and nightlife. To the west, it picks out Wollaton for its appeal to families and couples, with Wollaton Hall and its deer park among the neighbourhood’s best-known landmarks.

The eight locations were selected by Muddy Stilettos. Read its full Nottinghamshire guide at https://nottsderbyshire.muddystilettos.co.uk/best-places-to-live/nottinghamshire/.
