Ilkeston: Man charged after town centre stabbing

A man has been charged following an assault in Ilkeston town centre.

Police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed in South Street at about 6.30pm on Friday 10 July.

The victim, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment.

John Parnaby has now been charged with Section 18 GBH with intent and possession of a bladed article in a public area.

The 33-year-old, of South Street, Ilkeston, has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker in relation to an incident whilst in custody.

He remains in custody and is due to appear before Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 13 July).
