Illegal off-road biker on pavements with no helmet stopped by police

An off-road-biker was caught red-handed after officers spotted him riding without a number plate, going on and off the pavement, and riding without a helmet.

When officers stopped the teenager, they noticed he smelt strongly of cannabis and appeared to be sleepy.

Checks quickly revealed he didn’t have a full driving licence and wasn’t insured.

A roadside drug wipe was carried out, which proved positive, and the rider was arrested and taken into custody.

He went on to be charged, convicted after pleading guilty and sentenced for driving while over a specified drug limit, driving without insurance, and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He was banned from driving for 12 months and handed an £80 fine following the incident which happened in the Carlton in Lindrick area of Nottinghamshire on 30 November 2022.

The incident features in tonight’s brand-new episode of Police Interceptors.

Police Constable Dan Butler, of Nottinghamshire Police’s road crime team, said:

“We were on patrol driving around the estate when we spotted the bike being ridden without a number plate and on and off the pavement.

“The rider didn’t see us or know we were there, and we managed to grab him before he got away.

“Antisocial off-road biking is a real menace and a cause of great concern in our communities.

“This sort of behaviour is unacceptable, and we will continue to take action against inconsiderate riders whose illegal behaviour causes a misery in our communities, showing little or no regard for the laws of the road, the damage they cause, or the threat they pose to members of the public.

“Any riders engaging in this kind of criminal activity can expect to be stopped by the police who will take robust action.”

Meanwhile, on tonight’s show, members of Nottinghamshire Police’s road crime team work together to box-in and then arrest a runaway van driver, officers calmly deal with a volatile suspected drink driver, and there’s more success for the city knife crime team who arrest two suspects and seize large amounts of drugs and cash after spotting a car suspected to be linked to drug supply.

Catch all the action at 8pm on Channel 5.
