Image released after machete seen in Old Market Square Nottingham

Police are appealing for help after a man was spotted with a machete in Nottingham city centre.

 

Officers were flagged down in Old Market Square at approximately 5pm on 10 October after a member of the public reported seeing a man with the weapon.

He was part of a larger group seen running up Hurts Yard. It was reported that the man accidentally dropped the machete as he ran into Upper Parliament Street. He then picked it up before continuing to run off.

An investigation was launched, and officers believe the individuals in these images will be able to assist their inquiries.

PC Adam Abid, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“Carrying offensive weapons is extremely dangerous and will not be tolerated. We are doing everything we can to identify and apprehend those involved in this incident and would now like to appeal to the public for help.

“If you recognise anyone in these images, please get in touch with us as soon as possible.
“We are committed to making our communities safer and take a zero-tolerance approach to offensive weapon and knife crime. I’d therefore urge anyone who has information in relation to offensive weapons or knife crime to contact us so that we can continue to crack down on offenders.”

Anyone who recognises any of the pictured individuals is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 24*606296.
