Detective Sergeant Paul Crofts, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This must have been a scary experience for the victim in this incident, while it will have undoubtedly alarmed anyone who saw what happened too.

“If this was you and you witnessed what took place, it is extremely important that you contact the police so that we can take action.

“We also want to speak to anyone who recognises the person in these pictures, as we believe there to be a strong chance they could have some information that could assist our inquiries.

“If you’re the person in these images, we’d ask that you make yourself known to us, so that we can better establish exactly what happened that afternoon.

“There is never any excuse for anyone to carry a knife or bladed weapon out in public. To do so is a significant offence, so we will always treat any reports of this nature with the utmost seriousness.”

Information can be shared with the police by calling 101, quoting incident 539 of 19 March 2025, while it can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers by ringing 0800 555 111.
