Images releases after elderly woman’s purse stolen in charity shop

Police have released images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the distraction theft of an elderly woman’s purse while she was in a charity shop.

It was stolen from a backpack she was wearing whilst she was looking at clothes inside the Mind shop in Mansfield Road, Sherwood.

She was distracted by a man who was standing in her way and who said ‘sorry’ to her before another man unzipped her bag and took her purse which contained £20 and bank cards.

The victim was left shaken and distressed following the incident which has also affected her confidence when leaving her house as she believes it may happen again.

Lines of inquiry are ongoing into the theft, which happened shortly after 3 p.m. on 30 August 2023, and police are now hoping to trace two men who they believe could assist them with their inquiries.
