James Naish MP launches the Rushcliffe Small Business Awards 2026

James Naish MP has launched the Rushcliffe Small Business Awards for 2026.

This second edition of the awards celebrates the outstanding contribution that local businesses make to the community and the local economy in the run-up to Christmas.

The awards will be presented on Small Business Saturday, which, this year, falls on 5 December. They shine a light on the diverse and dynamic small businesses that help make Rushcliffe a fantastic place to live, work and visit.

James said: “I’m really pleased to launch these awards again. There are so many businesses in Rushcliffe that play a vital role in our community and contribute millions of pounds to the local economy. There were hundreds of nominations last year, and I would love to see more this year as we recognise small business owners in the run-up to Christmas.”

Residents can nominate their favourite small businesses in Rushcliffe across the same six categories as in 2025:

1. Best Small Shop – From friendly corner shops to delightful bakeries, this award honours the shops that capture the heart of our community and keep people coming back for more.

2. Best Health, Beauty and Leisure Service – Celebrate the businesses that prioritise your well-being, from the local gym to the reliable pharmacist or the nail bar that makes you feel fabulous inside and out.

3. Best Trade Service – Nominate your go-to tradesperson – the reliable plumber, the skilled technician or the mechanic who provides exceptional service to Rushcliffe residents.

4. Best Hospitality Business – From pubs and restaurants to takeaways, this category recognises hospitality businesses that bring people together and make our communities special.

5. Best Professional Service – For the professionals who make a difference every day – accountants, tutors, solicitors and others whose expertise supports local people and businesses.

6. Best Rural Business – Celebrating the entrepreneurs in our smaller villages who value nature, champion sustainability and help put rural Rushcliffe on the map.

The deadline for nominations is Sunday 22nd November, and James aims to visit each winner on Saturday 5th December (Small Business Saturday) to present their awards in person.

James added: “These awards are intended to shine a spotlight on the small business community in Rushcliffe. Having run businesses myself, I know how hard individuals and small teams often have to work to stay afloat, so they deserve recognition. Small businesses often go above and beyond and are key to making Rushcliffe thrive.”
