Large drugs haul found after car stop leads to Lenton house

A good spot by knife crime team officers led them to a large amount of drugs at a Nottingham house.


The specialist team was patrolling Nottingham city centre when they saw something suspicious.


Believing they had witnessed a drug deal taking place, officers started trailing a car they suspected to be involved.


The vehicle was pulled over and searched in Lower Parliament Street, at around 2.30 pm on Monday (30 March).


Deals of cannabis were found on board, although knife crime team officers would go on to uncover a much bigger haul soon after.

That was after they conducted further inquiries, which prompted them to visit a Lenton property with links to the car they had just pulled over.


Believing the house could be involved in drug activity, the policing team conducted a search that led to them finding a variety of both Class A and Class B drugs.


Quantities of cocaine, MDMA, ketamine, cannabis and magic mushrooms were among the substances discovered inside, along with large wads of cash.


All the drugs – believed to be valued in the tens of thousands of pounds – and the cash were subsequently taken away from the scene by police.


Two men – aged 20 and 23 – found inside the house by officers were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A and Class B drugs.


A 24-year-old man detained in the earlier car stop was also arrested on suspicion of possessing with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs.


All three suspects were additionally arrested on suspicion of possessing criminal property.
Detective Constable Ruth Clark, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:


“The knife crime team officers involved in this discovery deserve great credit for what was some fantastic police work.


“Having initially found deals of cannabis in a car they had pulled over, the team continued to investigate when they suspected further offending could be taking place.


“Those follow-up inquiries ultimately then led them to the property where this large drug haul was uncovered.

“A variety of different Class A and Class B drugs were taken out of harm’s way as a result, while three arrests were made too, so this was a brilliant job.”
