John Cramp from Leicester won a Lego design competition with a London telephone box.
Designer of the model which is now on sale, John Cramp from Leicester said: ‘It fills me with pride. It’s one of those things in my life, like one of the biggest achievements.
Ever since he was small, John Cramp has loved playing with Lego. Now, aged 43, he’s living his childhood dream after winning a competition to design a new kit, a red London phone box.
‘I’m so happy with how the finished models turned out. It’s as close as possible to it being a scale model of the real thing. On the roof, there’s a button that you can press which actually activates a little light inside.
For the last six years. John has been dreaming up concepts for new models and submitting them to Lego ideas, a scheme run by the Danish company which gives fans the chance to design a new kit. Having come close in previous years with his plans for a Lego post office and a police station, John finally received the call he was hoping for after beating thousands of other entrants in a public vote.
