Lenton: Car search leads to large quantity of drugs and dealing equipment

Police found a large quantity of drugs inside a car after spotting a man acting suspiciously.

Officers were patrolling the Lenton area in the early hours of Thursday (24 October) when they came across a BMW involved in previous police interactions.

It was parked in a car park accessed from Derwent Way, and as the officers approached, a man started walking away from the vehicle.

One of the officers stopped him while the other searched the car, which led to a bag of cannabis being found.

The man tried to get away but was detained after a short tussle.

The boot of the car was then searched, and a large quantity of cannabis was discovered. Deal bags, scales, and mobile phones were also found and seized by the officers.

The man, aged 21, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

He was taken into custody, where more deal bags containing cannabis were found in his underpants.

A property linked to the suspect was later searched, and multiple mobile phones were seized.

The suspect has since been bailed with conditions while investigation work continues.

PC Dan Bird, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“This is another reminder that dealing drugs will not be tolerated in Nottingham, and we will take positive action against anyone involved in this criminality.

“Proactive patrols like this are an important part of our work, and it is always a good result when we can take drugs out of circulation and away from causing harm.”
