A suspect in a Mansfield stabbing has been charged with attempted murder and remanded in custody.
A man sustained a single stab wound and was left with life-threatening injuries earlier this week.
The assault took place in Littleworth, Mansfield, at 9.28pm on Monday (13 July), with police arresting suspect Radoslaw Gan around two hours later.
Gan, of Broxtowe Drive, Mansfield, has now been charged with attempted murder, possessing a knife in public and possessing cannabis.
Following the charging decision overnight, 34-year-old Gan attended Nottingham Magistrates’ Court earlier this morning (15 July), where he was remanded in custody.
He is next due to appear before Nottingham Crown Court on 12 August.
Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“As we announce news of these charges, our thoughts remain with the victim receiving treatment in hospital.
“He sustained serious injuries in this incident that, put simply, could’ve led to him losing his life, but for the actions of those who helped him that night.
“On that note, the members of the public, police officers and paramedics who were in attendance and came to this man’s aid all deserve enormous credit.
“As our investigation into this incident continues, I would also like to thank the investigation team, who have worked around the clock to try and establish what happened and ultimately secure these charges.”
