Loughborough Schools Foundation is celebrating a strong set of A Level results.
The Foundation, which comprises Loughborough Grammar School for boys and Loughborough High School for girls, has more than doubled its Oxbridge places compared with last year, with up to 14 students securing a highly sought-after place at Oxford or Cambridge.
At Loughborough Grammar School, 71% of grades awarded were A*-B, with 37 students achieving three A grades or better and 12 receiving three or more A* grades.
The High School saw 21 students achieve three As or better, while all three students holding Oxbridge offers successfully met their grades and secured their places. The School’s Joan Davis Scholar recipient also achieved an outstanding A*AAA to secure her place at medical school.
Joseph Ball, a Year 13 student at Loughborough Grammar School, said: “I got 3 A*s in German, Latin and Chemistry, and I’m off to the University of Oxford to study Psychology and Linguistics. I’m looking forward to meeting new people, and I think the academic side will be brilliant. Whilst studying in Sixth Form, having a smaller range of subjects meant that I’ve been able to delve deeper into each one, and that’s been really nice. The greater independence has also been really nice for me; I’ve felt a lot more freedom to approach my studies in a way that suits me, and I think that really helped me in terms of my achievements.”

This year group has made an outstanding contribution to the life of Loughborough Grammar – on the sports pitch, in concert and on stage, through the Combined Cadet Force, charitable endeavours and service to the community.
“Their talent, energy and generosity have enriched our school immeasurably, leaving a lasting legacy. We are immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing the positive contribution they will make in the wider world.”
There has also been significant growth in two key subject areas at Loughborough Grammar School, with the proportion of A/A* grades in Computing increasing by 23% and in Economics by 11% compared with 2025.
There was particular success in STEM at the High School, with 100% of Further Mathematics students achieving A-A* grades, highlighting the strength of the School’s provision and the achievements of its young women in a traditionally underrepresented area.
