A world-class attraction taking up residence in Nottingham City this half term is getting ready to welcome thousands of people into a monumental palace full of colour and light.
20-23 October 2025
Setting up on Sneinton Market Square is one of Architects of Air’s Lumini – a baby brother to the giant Luminaria that have been an annual feature at Nottingham’s Lakeside since 2004, welcoming more than 100,000 visitors in that time.
Tickets have now been released for the Lumini named ‘Daedalite’, and are available from Monday 20 October to Thursday 23 October, from 10am each day. Daedalite is named after Daedalus. In Greek mythology Daedalus was the father of Icarus and the architect of the labyrinth of King Minos of Crete.
Inside, visitors are invited to explore and enjoy the 3,500 square feet structure with two outstanding features – an incredibly intricate rainbow-coloured Tree and a cavernous Main Dome, whose 3 storeys’ high ceiling was inspired by the Pantheon of Rome. The ceiling features a 600-piece pattern, all glued together by hand in Architects of Air’s workshop in St Ann’s. The pattern’s motif suggests birds flying, like Icarus, towards the sun.
The amazing Luminaria have captivated audiences worldwide attracting millions of people of all ages with its cross-generational appeal. Since the collection of smaller stand-alone Luminis were created in 2024, they have taken the opportunity to bring it closer to more families in the region, and with this latest installation in Sneinton.
Alan Parkinson, Architects of Air, said: “As a proud Nottingham company, nothing gives us more pleasure than bringing our Lumini home to the people of the city. We know how much pleasure they bring to people of all ages. A cathedral of light and wonder, they can provide special moments of calm and connection in our hectic world.”
Architects of Air, the Nottingham based company that builds this amazing inflatable architecture was formed in 1992 and since then has built more than 35 Luminaria, each to a different design.
Warm thick socks are recommended, as visitors are required to take off their shoes to enter. Accessible to all. Babies under 18 months are free.
