Lyrico Steede Volunteer Police Cadets visit Notts Police Custody Suite

The force’s Lyrico Steede Volunteer Police Cadets visited the Bridewell Custody Suite earlier this week as part of learning about policing.

The aim of the visit was to give them the experience of what custody is, but also why it’s important to make positive decisions and choices to avoid ending up in police custody and having your liberty taken away from you.

The cadets went through the booking in process and saw what happens whilst people are in custody including sampling the food and viewing the cells.

Volunteer Police Cadets Youth Engagement Officer Romel Davis said: “This is one of many unique and innovative opportunities our cadets and young people are being offered in Nottinghamshire through our positive engagement schemes.

“This visit isn’t meant to scare anyone, but to act as a deterrent but conducted in a positive proactive way.”

There will be further visits to custody as a form of youth intervention as well as continuous work going on throughout the force including education in school and other forms of prevention and early intervention later this month.

If there is a young person aged between 10 – 18 years old you are concerned about and want to know more about our youth intervention and positive engagement scheme please email positiveengagement@Nottinghamshire.pnn.police.uk
