Machete and knife recovered after street fight in Notts

Reports of a street fight in Mansfield in the early hours of this morning led to the arrest of two men and a woman.

Officers were called to Welbeck Street at around 4.45am to multiple reports of a group of people fighting.

The group were reported to have been in possession of weapons, with a machete and a knife recovered at the scene.

Police were quick to attend the incident and arrested two men, aged 41 and 41, and a woman, aged 29, in connection with the incident.

A scene is in place in Welbeck Street while officers investigate the circumstances.

Police Sergeant Andrew Doran, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Upon arrival at the scene, three people with minor injuries were located and arrested in connection with the reports.

“They will now being questioned to help us better understand what happened this morning.

“The men and woman were all arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of an offensive weapon, one of the 41-year-old men was arrested on suspicion of possession of class A drugs.

“Violence has no place in our communities and Nottinghamshire Police is committed to ensuring that residents feel safe.

“I’d now appeal to anyone with any information or footage of the incident to get in touch with us as soon as possible so that we can get to the bottom of what happened.”
