Man armed with garden fork stopped by officer with TASER device

A suspected burglar was detained by police as he emerged from a back garden holding a garden fork.

Officers were called to an address in Melbourne Road, Aspley, shorty after 10.30pm yesterday (Saturday).

On arrival, the first officer on the scene took the suspect to the floor using a TASER device and was quickly joined by colleagues at the scene.

A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of burglary and assaulting a police officer. He remains in police custody.

Detective Sergeant Simon Carter, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a great bit of work by the officers involved after we received a call from a member of the public.

“Burglary offences are hugely upsetting for victims and are treated with the utmost seriousness by Nottinghamshire Police.”
