A man has been charged following an incident where people in a café were reportedly threatened by a man with a gun.
Jahkiel Samuels, 35, of Westbury Road in Basford, Nottingham, has been charged with possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (5 September).
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called to an incident at a cafe in Beech Avenue, New Basford, just after midday on Wednesday 2 September.
Detective Inspector Rachael North, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a serious incident but thankfully no-one was hurt.
“The safety of the public is always our first priority, which is why we respond so quickly and robustly to reports involving firearms.”
