Man charged after stabbing incident on Maid Marian Way

Detectives have charged a suspect after a man was stabbed during a street disturbance.

Police were called to reports of a group of men fighting in Maid Marian Way, Nottingham city, on Sunday (27 October) around 1.30am.

A man was seen by officers holding a knife and attacking an unknown member of the group.

Officers quickly detained a suspect and recovered a knife which will now be destroyed. Twenty-seven-year-old Job Murray, of Derby, has been charged with wounding with intent and possession of a knife in a public place.

He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday (28 October) and will next appear at Nottingham Crown Court tomorrow (30 October).

Detective Inspector Paul Shortt, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This arrest and charge was made possible by a prompt and efficient response from officers on patrol in the city. “This sort of violence has no place in our night time economy and anyone found to be involved in disorder of this nature can expect a robust police response.

“The victim of the assault left the scene before speaking to officers and I would encourage him to get in touch with police.”
