Man charged after stealing Trent Barton Indigo line bus

A man is due in court charged with stealing a bus in Nottingham.

Police issued an appeal for information after the purple Indigo Trent Barton bus was stolen from Peveril Drive, near Castle Boulevard, on 4 August.

A short time later, the stolen bus caused the driver of a silver Volkswagen Golf to veer out of its way near Maid Marian Way, causing the car’s tyres to burst.

The bus was recovered shortly afterwards.

Josh Redfern, of Bethulie Road, Derby, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a road accident, driving whilst disqualified and driving without insurance.

The 25-year-old was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court today (Friday 25 August).

Sergeant Stephanie Clough said: “A suspect was arrested on Thursday evening and subsequently charged with these very serious offences.

“I would like to thank the public after we appealed for their help following this incident.

“We are committed to making our roads safe for all users and that is why we treat incidents such as this as seriously as we do.”
