Officers investigating the theft of items from student accommodation have charged a man with burglary.
A workshop in the basement of the complex, in Hampden Street, Nottingham, was burgled on Monday morning (27 October).
Stolen items included two drills, a water tester, spanner kit, wrench kit, drill bits box, rucksack, hearing aid, phone charger, hat and jacket worth over £5,000 in total.
A police officer was flagged down and an arrest quickly made.
Peter Boumphrey, of Burns Street, Arboretum, Nottingham, has been charged with burglary.
The 51-year-old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (28 October) and was granted conditional bail ahead of his next appearance at the same court at a later date.
PC Alex Leggett, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“The force treats all reports of burglary with the utmost seriousness and continues to work relentlessly all year round to prevent these sort of distressing incidents from happening in the first place.
“We understand how upsetting burglaries can be. Members of the public can be reassured reports will be investigated and we will always do everything we can to bring suspects before the court at the earliest opportunity.”
