An offender who drove his car at a man in a ‘rage’ and deliberately ran him over has been jailed.
Vincent White saw the victim, who he had previously had disagreements with, walking along Southchurch Drive, Clifton, on 3 November 2023.
He sped out of a junction in his Ford Focus and drove straight at the victim, a man aged in his 40s, as he crossed the road.
The car mounted a pavement where it collided with the man and knocked him to the ground.
Despite the impact, the victim was able to get to his feet and stumble into a nearby property.
White, aged 34, did not stop at the scene but sped away.
The victim, who said he was fearful of further attempts to harm him, went home and did not attend a hospital until five days later.
It was then discovered he had suffered multiple broken bones.
When he was arrested by police and interviewed, White admitted feeling a ‘rage’ inside him when he saw the victim and drove at him.
White, of Clarewood Grove, Nottingham, pleaded guilty to committing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He was jailed for three years when he appeared at Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Tuesday (25 March).
Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“White saw a man he had a grievance with and in a rage took the decision to drive straight at him.
“The victim was fortunate not to have been even more seriously hurt given the force of the impact.
“It is also fortunate no other road users were harmed by this reckless and dangerous act.”
