Man in court after victim attacked with metal bar

Detectives investigating an aggravated burglary where a man was assaulted have charged a suspect.

It is alleged a man forced his way into an address in Stapleford and attacked a man with a metal bar, causing injuries. A phone and house keys were stolen from the property.

The victim needed hospital treatment following the incident which happened around 5pm on 10 January 2024.

Skye Severn, aged 24, of Teesbrook Drive, Bilborough, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Thursday (18 January 2024) charged with aggravated burglary, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of cannabis.

He was remanded in custody and is next due to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on 15 February 2024.

Detective Sergeant Georgie Gallagher, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“The force treats all reports of burglary and violent behaviour extremely seriously.

“People have the right to feel safe in their own homes and violent crime of this nature has no place in our neighbourhoods.

“We will always investigate any incidents reported to us and do everything in our power to seek justice for victims while providing them with support.”
