Man stabbed with broken bottle at Mansfield bus station

A teenager has been arrested after a man was stabbed with a broken bottle.

Police were called to Mansfield bus station around 7.30pm on Saturday (20 June) following reports a man, aged in his 40s, had been assaulted by someone known to him.

The victim was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm which are not believed to be life-altering or life-threatening in nature.

Officers conducted an area search and located a suspect in an alleyway off Layton Avenue, Mansfield, a short time later.

A 14-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm.

Detective Sergeant Millie Gillett, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:

“We know a number of people will have witnessed this incident at Mansfield bus station and its aftermath.

“I’d like to reassure residents that it was an isolated incident involving two people known to each other.

“Officers also worked quickly to identify, locate and arrest a suspect.”
