Mansfield: Attempted murder arrest after stabbing leaves victim seriously injured

A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a stabbing in Mansfield.

Police were called to Littleworth at around 9.30pm on Monday 13 July following reports of a serious assault.

A man suffered a single stab wound and was taken to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

Officers located a suspect at a nearby address around two hours after the incident was reported.

The 34-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of Class B drugs.

Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said officers would maintain a visible presence in the area while inquiries continued.

He said: “The victim of this attack is currently in hospital in a serious condition, so our first thoughts remain with him.

“Our investigation into this stabbing remains ongoing, so we’d ask that anyone who knows what happened or has any other information that could assist our inquiries shares this with the police immediately.

“We also want to hear from anyone who may have captured dash-cam, CCTV, doorbell or mobile phone footage of the incident.”
