Matt Lucas to narrate Christmas drone light show coming to West Bridgford

Matt Lucas is to be the voice of A Christmas Carol, the epic drone light show coming to West Bridgford this Christmas.

Audiences are set to be mesmerised by the adaptation of Charles Dickens’  Christmas story, performed by hundreds of animated drones and narrated in the unique style of Matt Lucas. A Christmas Carol will take place on Saturday, 7 December and Sunday, 8 December at Trent Bridge, home to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club.

Following hugely successful sell-out drone light shows in Bristol, Cardiff and Nottingham last winter, the team behind Evolution returns this year with a magical, festive show suitable for all ages. The new, much longer show reimagines the classic tale and will take audiences on a heart-warming journey with miserly Ebenezer Scrooge on Christmas Eve.

Matt Lucas comments: “I am thrilled to be narrating this new and exciting take on a Christmas classic. Using drones to tell a traditional story is brilliantly inventive and a glimpse into the future of entertainment. It’s a magical way to bring friends and family together during the festive season, and I’m sure it will delight everybody.’

Celestial (creators of drone light shows for brands across the globe) is the world’s first entertainment studio to use drone technology to tell epic stories in the sky, and together with Yuup (the local experiences company) and venue partner Trent Bridge Stadium, are bringing A Christmas Carol The Drone Light Show to Nottingham for the first time.

John Hopkins, Celestial’s Founder & CEO, comments: “A Christmas Carol is a beloved tale that has been retold across various genres. This time, it is uniquely presented through drone art, elevating it beyond a traditional drone light show to an epic, stadium-scale experience. This innovative artistic medium brings audiences together through a shared sense of wonder to celebrate a universal story of human transformation.”

Dominic Mills, Founder and CEO of Yuup, adds: “Over 60,000 people have now viewed our previous Evolution shows, and each show gets bigger and better, extending the length considerably from our early productions. We are thrilled to have Matt Lucas narrate this unique show, adding an extra layer of magic to the experience.”

Joe Sharphouse, Head of Commercial Sales at Trent Bridge, said: “We were blown away by the success of Yuup and Celestial’s first drone light show at our home, and we can’t wait to see how the timeless story of A Christmas Carol is re-interpreted this winter. The addition of the Matt Lucas narration is just another exciting element of this much anticipated event”

The event takes place on Saturday, 7th December and Sunday, 8th December at Trent Bridge, home to Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club. Gates will open at 15:30, with food and drink outlets serving a variety of refreshments while a live DJ plays ahead of the show starting at 17:30.
